The
Garbage Gorilla
is the ONLY product
of its type to have
been selected by
major national waste
collection companies,
such as Waste
Connections, for
sale and rental
to their customers
because it safely
and easily lifts
and transports all
types and sizes of
waste carts.
Our product is also
recommended by independent
consumer columnists such as About.com.
No other product
even comes close to
this level of
approval. Don't
be bamboozled by
phony claims of
endorsement.
The
Gorilla is the
proven standard of
the industry and the
best value by
far. We pass
along to you the
cost savings our
high-volume superior
design enjoys.
Whatever you do,
avoid products that attempt to
lift and transport
your cart using the
lower bar.
As
explained in
Question #5 below,
this top-heavy
approach can leave
your trash lying by
the side of the
road, and the carts
can slam into the
back of your vehicle
when you stop or go
down hill.
With the Gorilla,
there is also no
sudden and
unexpected release
of weight when
unloading. It
really is the SAFE
and EASY way to port
your pungent
payload.
Q: Where can I get
waste wheelers?
A: The
wheeled waste carts
shown on this site
and required for use
with the
Garbage Gorilla, are
normally supplied by
local garbage
companies.
They can also be
purchased from Lowe's.
Their website
includes a store
locator.
Q:
How hard is it to
turn the crank?
A: Turning
the crank is as
simple as cranking up a
patio umbrella.
A 6-year-old child
can quickly and
easily lift a 250-pound
load. In
addition, because the load is
supported at the
top, it won't tip
and fall off during
during transport or
slam into the back
of your vehicle when
stopping or going
downhill.
Q:
I've jacked up my
pickup truck and
wonder how high a
hitch the Garbage
Gorilla™ lift can
handle.
A:
The
Garbage Gorilla has
a range of built-in
adjustments to
accommodate receiver
hitches with center
lines ranging from
10" to 20"
from the ground.
The distance from
the rear bumper is
also adjustable.
Q:
How easy is it to
convert a Dual Lift
to a Single Lift?
A:
Although the Dual Garbage Gorilla
can easily lift and
transport unbalanced
loads, including 0
lbs on one side and
250 lbs on the
other, the ability to
switch from a Dual
to Single Lift can
be helpful if you
occasionally
transport only one
cart. Centering the load
minimizes twisting
forces placed on
your hitch.
With
the Gorilla,
all you need to do
is remove a couple
of pins and shift
one of the side
T-shaped components
to the center
position. It
can be done in less
than 15 seconds.
Changing from Single
to Dual is equally
easy. No
tools of any kind
are required.
Q:
How secure will my
cart be when lifted
and transported
using the
Garbage
Gorilla™ lift?
A:
The Garbage Gorilla
has a patented
T-shaped component
that engages your
waste cart.
The pickup lip near
the top of the cart
fits securely into a
wide horizontal
channel forming the
top of the T. Your
cart may also have a
built-in horizontal
bar about halfway
down below the
pickup lip.
When the cart is
raised off the
ground, it tips
forward at the
bottom, and this
lower bar moves
under a restraining
lip built into the
bottom of the T.
This interlock
limits the cart's
vertical movement
and further reduces
the chances of it
coming off during
transport. Note
that the Garbage
Gorilla does NOT
transport the cart
using the lower bar.
That approach allows
top-heavy carts to
tip and fall off
during transport or
tilt forward forward
and slam into the
back of your vehicle
when you stop or go
downhill. Waste
carts were never
designed to be
lifted by the lower
bar. The bar
was only intended to
support the weight
of an empty cart
when inverted by
automated collection
equipment.
Attempting to lift a
full load using this
bar can not only
lead to the tipping
problems mentioned
above, but the bar
itself can fail
prematurely.
If you don't believe
this, simply ask
your garbage
company.
Q:
What type of waste
wheelers will the
Garbage Gorilla™
transport fit?
A:
The Garbage Gorilla
lift will fit all
carts that have
the lip and bar
molded into the side
regardless of their
size. The
size of the lower
bar, be it plastic,
metal, or missing,
won't stop the
Gorilla.
Q:
How far above the
roadway are the
wheels of the lifted
cart suspended?
A:
The jack used on the
Garbage Gorilla™
transport has a
15" lift
capability.
Normally about six
inches of clearance
is more than
sufficient to
prevent the cart
from contacting the
ground on grades and
bumps.
Q:
How much does the
Garbage Gorilla™
transport weigh?
A:
The Single weighs 28
lbs; the Dual is 41
lbs. Those
numbers INCLUDE the
part that plugs into
your receiver hitch.
In addition, the
Dual can be easily
separated into two
parts weighing 22
lbs and 19 lbs to
facilitate mounting
and dismounting.
Q:
What size Receiver
Hitch will the
Garbage Gorilla™
transport fit?
A:
Currently the
Garbage Gorilla lift is
only available in a
form factor to fit
2” receiver
hitches.
A model for 1
¼” hitches
may be introduced in
the future. To
determine the size
of your receiver,
just measure the
size of the opening
with a ruler.
Q:
What kind of finish
does the Garbage
Gorilla™ transport
have?
A:
The Garbage Gorilla
is built to last a
lifetime. Most
of the components
are hot-dip
galvanized in molten
metal after
fabrication.
This is the same
surface protection
used on chain link
fences. It is
extremely durable
and long-lasting.
Paint might look
prettier when new,
but it doesn't even
come close to the
durability of a
galvanized finish. The
vertical lift
component is painted
using a high-quality
powder coat process.
Q:
Why does my shopping
cart say it is
empty?
A:
If you have tried to
add an item to your
shopping cart, but
it says it is empty,
the most likely
reason for this is
that you do not have
cookies enabled on
your web browser.

Q:
Can I pickup my Garbage
Gorilla™ lift
instead of having it
shipped?
A:
Good Gizmos,
Inc. is not setup to
handle walk-in
customers at this
time. We can
only fulfill orders
by shipping the
product to you from
our warehouse.
Q:
Can I still use the
Garbage Gorilla™
lift without a
receiver hitch?
A:
You will have to
have a receiver
hitch installed on
your vehicle first.
See "Trailer
Hitches" in the
Yellow Pages for a
list of qualified
installers in your
area.
